My response for the above listed scenario; Medical Test; Kathy, Joanne, Bernard
Kathy was my first choice based on the fact that she's in her 40's has been interpreting for 20+ yrs mostly medicine, has a MA degree in Education, RID certified ( which we know sometimes doesn't equal qualified) even though she primarily works VRS, I don't think that discounts her as being an appropriate candidate.
Joanne, was my next selection and I only selected her due to the fact she's certified and attend an 4yr interpreting program, none of the other reasons outlined in the booked made a difference to me.
Bernard, I felt Bernard was a suitable candidate for he had a level 3 NAD certification and he was brought up by the community which holds more weight for me than him attending an ITP program, other than that I didn't care about his sense of humor or his gregarious nature.
I gotta go, more to come. (; Okay, so I'm back.
The second activity/scneario is the Yoga Class read below.
Now, consider a yoga class assignment designed for older people. The deaf participant is a woman in her 60's. Which of the four interpreters might be the best match here? Consider the reasons for your choice and be prepared to discuss them.
Okay ladies, so for this exercise my choices for interpreters were; Kathy, Terry, Joanne, Bernard, instead of listing my reasons here, I'll wait till we meet so we can discuss them in person.
